ANANDPUR
St.
Joseph’s Church, Anandpur, is on a mission to educate its members about the
Christian life and the importance of Sacraments. For the past one month or more
input sections are arranged on Sundays. Different Priests from the Diocese have
been called in to give sound and correct teaching of the Catholic Church on
various sacraments. The resource persons shared their experience as one of the
best and receptive group to teach and impart the knowledge. We congratulate
Rev. Fr. Raphael Monteiro and his team for arranging this wonderful programme
and wish them best wishes for the forthcoming programmes on the occasion of the
Jubilee.
Football Tournament:
the Parish Conducted Bishop Joseph
Rodericks Memorial Football Tournament at Charbandia on 13, 14 and 15th
August, 2011. About 20 teams participated in the tournament. Livestock were
given as price to the winners.
Mothers’ Day Celebration:
On the occasion of the Feast of St. Monica, the Parish celebrated Sunday, 28th
August, as the Mahila / Mothers’ Day. Rev. Fr. Leo John D’Souza was the main
celebrant of the Holy Eucharist and the resource person for the seminar. More
than 140 mothers took part in this seminar.
LOYOLA SCHOOL
Final Vows of Fr. R. Anthony Raj
and Fr. Cyril Tigga: On 31st July, a twin
celebration had taken place in Loyola School, Sonari. The Final Profession of
Frs. R. Tony & Cyril Tigga and the Feast of St. Ignatius of Loyola. The
celebration began with solemn concelebrated Holy Eucharist, in which Rev. Fr.
Michael Thanaraj took the presidential seat. A good number of Clergy and
Religious were present for the function along with the family members of Frs.
Tony & Cyril. The laity of the Infant Jesus Church, Sonary too had joined
for the Eucharistic celebration to witness the final profession of their
beloved Parish Priest.
Partly Right:
On 20th August, 2011, the students of Loyola School screened the
grand premier of their home production “Partly Right” at Tata Auditorium, XLRI,
Jamshedpur. The Principle of the School, Rev. Fr. Victor Misquith, said that
the complete credit goes to the students of the School for this wonderful
project. Mr. Pravaal Raman noted Bollywood Film Maker and Writer, who is also
an Alumni of Loyola School, was the Chief Guest. The focus of the film was the
growing tendency of suicide among students/teenagers.
RECOLLECTION
On
02nd August, 2011, the diocesan Priests of the Jamshedpur Deanery
came together for a day of recollection. Rev. Fr. Oscar Beck, the Director of Pratiksha
(BIJHAN Regional Propaedutic Seminary), guided the spiritual section. The
section had talk, common sharing, personal prayer, confession and Holy
Eucharist. We congratulate and thank Rev. Fr. Camille Hembrom, the Dean of
Jamshedpur Deanery, for organizing the recollection.
On
20th August a recollection was arranged for the Regents. Most Rev.
Felix Toppo, SJ, guided the regents in this spiritual exercise. They spend the
day in attending talks, sharing pastoral and mission experiences and in
personal prayer. The recollection came to an end by the Holy Euchrist.
FEAST OF ST. JOHN MARY VIANNEY
On
04th August, Diocese celebrated the Feast of St. John Mary Vianney,
the Patron of Priests. On that day Clergy and Religious of the Jamshedpur
Deanery gathered for Benediction at St. Joseph Cathedral and thereafter for a
fellowship meal at St. Joseph’s Welfare Centre. Other parishes of the Diocese
too had various celebrations, which were locally organized.
KUMARDHUBI
Holy
Family Church, Kumardhubi celebrated the feast of two great saints, St. John
Mary Vianney and St. Ignatius of Loyola on 07th August, 2011. The
celebration began with the concelebrated Holy Eucharist, which was presided
over by Rev. Fr. Amatus Kujur, the Dean of Dhanbad Deanery. The SCJM Sisters takes
the credit for beautifully organizing the liturgy. The parishioners were served
with snacks and the priest and religious were provided with a sumptuous meal.
This was a rare occasion which brought the Clergy and Religious of Purulia and
Dhanbad Deanery, together for a celebration.
FR. HILARY LOBO CELEBRATES GOLDEN
JUBILEE
On
7th August, 2011, the Clergy & Religious of Jamshedpur Deanery,
Friends and well-wishers of Rev. Fr. Hilary Lobo had gathered at Loyola College
of Education, to share the joy of Fr. Hilary Lobo who celebrated his Golden
Jubilee as a Jesuit. The celebrations began with the Holy Eucharist. Later the
B.Ed. students staged a short cultural programme. Fr. Lobo shared his
experiences in the Society and thanked everyone who contributed towards his
successful and fruitful religious life. The gathering ended with a delicious
meal. Congratulations to you Fr. Hilary Lobo!
FEAST OF ST. DOMINIC
Friars of the Order of Preachers, commonly known as Dominicans,
celebrated the feast of their founder St. Dominic, on 8th August.
Fr. Camille Hembrom, Dean and Parish Priest, was the Main Celebrant at the
concelebrated Holy Eucharist. Through his Homily he invited the faithful to
follow Christ more closely and to be the carriers of Truth, which is Christ
Himself. The Holy Mass was followed with a common meal. Later on 14th
August, they hosted a fellowship meal for the Clergy and Religious of the town.
They also made use of the occasion to familiarize themselves and the Order to the
guest with a power point presentation.
PASTORAL CLERGY MEETING
There
was a meeting of the Pastoral Clergy on 12th August, 2011, at
Bishop’s House, Golmuri. More than 35 priests took part in this meeting. The
meeting began with a short prayer. During the meeting various issues of
pastoral importance, especially in connection with the Golden Jubilee of the
Diocese, were discussed. The meeting ended with lunch.
PDDM LITURGICAL CENTRE
On
18th August, 2011, at 4 pm, Most Rev. Felix Toppo, SJ, blessed the
newly built liturgical center at Golmuri. Rev. Sr. Nirmala, the formal
provincial of PDDM Sisters, inaugurated the centre by cutting the ribbon.
Representatives of the Clergy & Religious, well-wishers & friends and
the students of the St. Joseph’s Community College were present for the short
ceremony, other than Sr. Laetitia, the Vice-Provincial and other sisters from
the congregation.
PRINCIPALS' MEETING
A
meeting of the heads of the Educational institutions was held at Bishop’s
House, Golmuri on 20th August, 2011. The meeting began with a short
prayer. Most Rev. Felix Toppo, SJ, addressed the gathering. Thereafter Fr.
Gerald Martin D’Souza shared his reflections on RTE Act. There were also detail
discussions on various matters which are pertinent to the field of Education.
The meeting came to its close, little after 12.30, with a meal.
MC SISTERS CELEBRATE
FEAST
On 21st August, M.C. Sisters celebrated their Society’s
Titular Feast, the Queenship of Mary. Most Rev. Felix Toppo, S.J. was the main
celebrant and at Baihatu and on 22nd at Bradwari. He spoke about the
divine plan and the divine intervention in Mother’s life. A good number of
priests, religious, lay M.C.s and well-wishers were present for the
celebrations.
NOVENA BEGINS
On
29th August, by hoisting the Flag, many parishes of our Diocese have
begun the preparations for the celebration of the feast of the Nativity of Our
Lady. The special devotion and the Novena to Vailankanni Matha is the dominant part of the celebration. The
novena began on 30th August. Most of the priests are busy in
studying, preparing and preaching the Word of God, as many are invited to
different Parishes.
TALDANGA
One
of the greatest celebrations for the Loyolians is the Feast of St. Ignatius of
Loyola. The preparations were started soon after the first term examination.
This time along with the Prayer Service and Cultural programme, an Inter House
Quiz too was organized. Participants were from classes III to XII. In each
group, the teams put in their best and the contest added much excitement.
For
all the sport lovers a Football tournament (boys) and Throw-ball tournament
(girls) was organized. This competition was also held in House-wise.
On
a serious note, the 1st term answer sheets were shown to parents on
the 6th of August and the Report Cards were given on the 13th.
Our
Principal came up with a fabulous idea to encourage the feel of patriotism. A
contest was held to sing the National Anthem. The clarity, diction,
punctuation, melody and timings were the parameters for judgment. The winners
got the privilege to sing on 15th August. What added flavour to the
show was the witty question asked by Fr. Edward to the contesting groups and to
the audience. Many learnt a lot about the nation that day.
The
Independence Day celebration was full of colour and music. There were tableaus,
dances, speeches, songs both by the English and the Hindi medium. The final
event was the prize distribution for the above mentioned contests. (Rita Sen)
FROM JDV PUNE, FR. RAJU FELIX
CRASTA WRITES:
Greetings
and love from JDV Jamwallas…The sudden death of Br. Rana Pratam Minj, MFSF, a
first year Theology student on 30th of July saddened the whole campus of JDV.
He hailed from Hazaribagh Diocese (near Bokaro). He had a slight fracture on
the right shoulder for which he was taken to the hospital. The doctors advised
for a minor surgery. Unfortunately his body reacted to the anesthetic drug
given and he died of massive heart attack. The funeral Mass was held in Papal
seminary Chapel on 31st July, and then the body was taken to Nagpur since he
belonged to Nagpur Fransalian Province. His sister and the younger brother
attended the funeral services at Papal Seminary. This event affected our
celebration of the feast of Ignatius Loyola. The feast of St. John Mary Vianney
reminded me that I am a diocesan Priest. I joined with Papal Seminary for the
celebrations though we had separate celebration. The following two weeks were
busy for all the students of JDV as it was the time for mid-semester
evaluation. I had two oral exams, three papers and two presentations. The work
is still going on. Finally wish you all a very Happy Feast of the Nativity of
Our Lady.
NEWS FROM DIVYA BHARATI
In
the month of August Divya Bharati had many programmes. On 09th,
under the leadership Fr. Edwin Coelho, Dean of Chaibasa Deanery, the Clergy and
Religious of Chaibasa Deanery (49 in number) came together for a Recollection.
Fr. Tom Nelli, despite his busy schedule in the Civil Court, gave an inspiring
talk on Blessed Mother. This was followed by Adoration and Confession. The
whole programme ended with Tea.
From
16th to 19th August we had a “Catechists and Lay Leaders’
Training Programme” which was attended by 16 People including two Pastoral
sisters. The highlight of this programme was Fr. Clement Kujur, Director, TRTC,
briefing up the participants on the various Rights based Programmes of the
Government and also creating awareness on the problem of “Displacement” caused
by various “Development Projects”.
The
Ho Hymn Workshop group met on 13th July, under the leadership of Fr.
Manu Horo, as part of the ongoing preparation of the new Ho Hymns. This time,
despite many constraints, they set the beats of the drums to the new
composition. John Sumbrui, who has been a leading figure in the group, missed
the Workshop due to Provincial’s Visitation in Rengra.
On
20th August, we had a “Training of Trainers (ToT)” programme for the
Krus Veer Animators, in which 20 people participated and benefited. Most of the
participants were from Chaibasa Deanery and are new to the movement as
trainers. Fr. George and Sr. Nirmala, DSA, were the resource persons and dealt
with the Methodology of Faith Formation among the present generation. Various
useful materials procured from Prabhat Prakashan, Patna, were also made
available to the participants. The group also planned out about the forthcoming
Chaibasa Deanery Krus Vir Rally, which is scheduled from 1st-3rd
October, 2011. (George Anthony)

abode on the 04th August, 2011.
Mrs.
Cecilia Bodra, Mother of Rev. Fr. Halan Bodra, has gone for her eternal reward
on 17th August, 2011.
Mrs.
Theresia Jacob, mother of Sr. Mary E.J., JMJ, Bhilai Pahari, has completed her
race on earth on 23rd August, 2011.
